Why I have gone to War

I hate pvp. I hate Guild Wars, PvP in WoW, PvP in EQ2, and PvP in City of Heroes. I love Warhammer Online. Warhammer online is PvP centric. What gives? Consequences. Experience. Loot!

In Warhammer Online you have Realm vs. Realm. Each zone can be controlled by either the forces of destruction or the forces or order or neither. If one side controls a zone that entire side gets benefits such as increased renoun (RvR reputation) and decreased vendor prices among other things. When you log into the game and look up at the upper right corner and see that your side doesn't control that zone you feel like hopping into RvR scenarios to earn some points. What YOU do in the game matters and effects everyone in that zone. That is what makes WAR different from WoW or EQ2 or any other game where PvP is kept separate.

While in a scenario you can loot the people you kill and even sometimes get some drops. Now it is not their money or items, it is generated by the scenario to reward you as well as prevent the person that died from actually losing anything. You also gain experience during the scenario. If you play scenarios early on in the game, you can gain severl levels very quickly with RvR combat far faster than PvE.

There is also a nice feature that bolsters you up to rank 8 hit points and damage dealing if you are lower than that so you can actually put up a good fight. If you encounter a rank 11 on your own you will die, but a few rank 8s can team up on an 11 and change the tide of battle.

This game makes PvP fun and rewarding and relevant. It's the first time I've been able to say that about ANY mmorpg that I've played.

I have gone to War, I have become a PvPr and I enjoy it!

I honestly never thought I would be saying that ever. Way to go Mythic! You've turned a jaded Care Bear into a PvPr with blood lust that craves battle. I'm even playing a melee DPS character for the first time in decades!
